The Eighth Lord Danvers was Marcus Pierce who by his own judgment had led a charmed life. He’s also young, well titled, ridiculously wealthy and handsome to boot, everyone said including his friends Drew and Heath, was also known as “an expert” in the ways of love making. But how was it this charmed man now the guardian to three wards who neither wanted his guardianship nor even to know him. Marcus feeling the same way avoided meeting the three women, preferring to handle the whole situation through his solicitor. But all that careful posturing came to an abrupt end when Arabella Loring came crashing into his home and decided to end this “relationship” with her guardian today!
Marcus takes one look at her and decides he will have Belle as his wife. Convinced she would provide him with the requisite heirs, stimulate him mentally and physically and long after the years have taken their toll and aged them gracefully she would still be a feisty woman and one that would bring home love and fulfillment.
While Marcus thinks this is an amazing idea Belle however has no intention of ever marrying. She wants her independence and proven her ability to care for herself and her sisters by setting up and working the academy she runs for ladies in training for their season at the ton. Meeting Marcus did stir feelings she had never known for any man including her former fiancé. Belle has been through so much torment, loneliness and scandal that her mind is made up to forgo what is expected of a woman, but can she resist the ever dashing, incredible alluring Lord Danvers?
What Marcus decides to do is throw down a challenge to this enchanting woman and hopes that she finds him as alluring as he finds her. TO PLEASURE A LADY, the first book in a new series by Nicole Jordan is a good start to what appears to be a great trilogy. As with most first books in the series it moves slower to establish the character's personalities and all the future storylines. While this does not hinder the overall story it does make for a more detailed and exciting read which in romance is never a bad thing! I look forward to reading the next novel in the series.
