Bringing on the heat with a winning wave of love, seduction and rake behavior!

In the blink of an eye Lord Desmond Bannington goes from being the infamous rake of England to the respectable Marquis of Waverly. This happens following the death of his father who had kicked out of his home 12 years earlier. Desmond has lived throughout the world causing women to swoon and fortunes to be made but now he is walking away from the life of complete pleasure to care for his childhood home and see to his grandmother’s needs.

What he does not expect along the way is an encounter with Lady Helena Fairchild who decides to mistakenly crawl into his bed thinking it was her fiancé. When all sorts of mayhem erupts the least of which is the end of the relationship Helena finds herself in the same carriage with Desmond to his home where she can lay low until proper London society recovers from this latest antic of Helena’s.

But when they arrive at his ancestral home they find Carleton House in complete disarray and his grandmother gravely ill. His supposed cousins have taken possession and have run everything to the ground and driven all the respectable staff away. Desmond immediately goes into action to help his grandmother recover and repair the damage done to the estate and with Helena at his side taking charge of the details she can things turn around dramatically but quickly. During all the changes before she can really absorb her situation Helena finds herself in love the estate almost as much as she has fallen in love with Desmond. How is that possible she is not sure but once she knows that it is a fait accompli she takes the matter of seduction into her own hands and forget the proper society rules once she knows that she has found her man of her dreams and intends to make him her husband.

There are several road blocks to this plan with the cousins thwarting every possible chance for household stability and Desmond’s nemesis trying to rain down such pandemonium that even Helena is not sure what at times to do next. But being a strong woman and taking on the challenge of winning Desmond’s heart and control the circumstances of love is one she is up for even when the biggest road block turns out to be her father and his disapproval of his choice for a husband. But Helena was taught by the master of manipulation on how to get what she wants – her mother!

Pearl Wolf writes the most romantic of stories with characters that jump from the page and rain down with such heat you feel your fingers burning as you turn to the next chapter. Ms. Wolf fills her stories with conflict and some humor but you know the two people featured in this book belong together and watching all this unfold is beyond genius the way it is written. Wonderful book but start with Too Hot For A Spy to get a feel for the first book in this series.
