Living a quiet life with her stepdaughter, son and father in law, helping the sick and elderly. But nine years later, she’s thrown back into the past, and back into her deceitful husband’s arms.

David Donnelly has come out of his quiet life to undertake one last assignment for the crown. He has to find a necklace stolen by Meg Faraday’s father. Probably in the possession of Meg, whom he thought had gone down on a ship nine years earlier, leaving him a widower.

He’d married her as a spy, infiltrating her father’s household, but he fell in love from the first. Now he’s torn between fulfilling his duty to the crown and helping her remain safe from her father’s evil clutches or from the hangman’s noose. And all while walking a thin line between justice and treason, himself.

Melody Thomas did a wonderful job with this book. Many times, I felt as if I were seeing this story as a movie instead of reading it. The settings and underlying emotions were very well written. The characters movement and expressions were so realistic it made them leap right off the page. Mrs. Thomas has created a story that will have you on the edge of your seat and completely unable to put it down.
