Julia Quinn cannot stop herself from writing the most amazing novels of love and romance, nor would we ask her to.

Jack Audley believes he was born to be a soldier, fell into being a highwayman and most assuredly was a rogue. He knew that his aunt and uncle who raised him loved him like he was their own child and sent him off into the world knowing he was a great man and had been a wonderful son. All these things Jack knew and understood, but what he never knew or could ever suppose could possibly be true was that his father decided from royalty and that Jack must just in fact be the rightful Duke of Wyndham. Well all this may be true and Jack so hoped it was not but if he could prove his legitimacy and not maim his new found grandmother the title was about to become his.

Grace Eversleigh was born the beloved and cared for daughter of two doting and cherished parents and what she became as a result of their death was the companion to the dowager of Wyndham. This was not a highly sought after position was the dowager was just a bit much to take for the normal companion, well really she was too much to take for anyone sometimes even Grace. What Grace also knew is that Thomas was her friend and as well as being the Duke of Wyndham – not the person that the dowager now believes was because that would just change everything and Grace wanted no more change that would alter her life.

When these two meet on a dark, lonely highway one night while Jack while living the life of a highwayman prepared to rob them all things changed for everyone associated with the Wyndham way of life. His grandmother immediately recognized him as the long lost son of her beloved middle child John and justifies kidnapping him. She brings him to her home where the current and believed Duke of Wyndham, Thomas, now resides and rules over the estates in the position he was born and raised to hold and one that was now thrust upon Jack – even though he was quite unwilling to accept it.

While all this is transpiring the fate of one Amelia Willoughby lie in the hands of this twisted fate as she is to marry the next Duke and has been waiting since birth for this to transpire. It must be determined who exactly that Duke might or perhaps might not be and that involves a journey of exploration that takes the group from England to Ireland where everyone waits patiently for all the things in everyone’s lives to be determined and explained and one man will walk away with everything while the other has nothing but memories of what use to be the life they had and wanted.

THE LOST DUKE OF WYNDHAM book is as true to all of Ms. Quinn’s previous books – romantic, well plotted, with characters deep in powerful development and just overall an amazing read. It was going to be difficult to create another series that appeals like the Bridgerton’s had but this one book alone stands as a masterpiece and waiting for the next one is going to be torture – because really who is the real Duke of Wyndham anyway?
