Grace Marlowe, the most proper of the Merry Widows, had always vowed that she would never truly become one. For to become a Merry Widow in the truest sense, she would need to take a lover, and being the punctilious woman she is, would do no such thing.

John Grayston, Viscount Rochdale has made his fortune through gambling. An unrepentant hedonist, he enjoys all the pleasures life can bring. When faced with a wager, to seduce the most prim and proper woman to be found, he agrees.

In LADY BE BAD, Candice Hern has written a searingly seductive tale about friendship, trust and ultimately, love. Another theme is the adage you cannot judge a book by it’s cover as Grace and John discover that you never really know what lies beneath a person’s facade by reputation alone.

LADY BE BAD was a thoroughly enchanting read. The plot was refreshing, in a lesser author’s hands a story about a wagered seduction would start with the bedding and work it’s way to a relationship from there. Here, the protagonists built up a friendship first, based on mutual respect. When they finally come together it is a culmination of their feelings for one another.

John was not merely a scandalous libertine, deep down he was a man with integrity and who, when it came down to it, strove to do the right and honorable thing.

Grace was freed from the shadow of “The Bishop’s Widow”, into the vital and passionate woman that had always been there. Her passionate nature had been forced into dormancy by a mis matched marriage. I particularly loved how she took matters into her own hands to finally claim the pleasure she had long been denied.

I highly recommend this wonderful addition to the Merry Widows series!
