Lady Alexandra Huntington is a headstrong, beautiful lady with a scandal in her past. She is living on her brother’s estate as his manager. She is free to do as she pleases. When Collin Blackburn comes calling for her, he demands answers about that fateful night. She agrees to help him knowing he thinks the worst of her. She wishes to prove him wrong and find out if she was just a pawn in his brother’s murder.
Collin Blackburn made a promise to find his half brother’s murderer. He hates the fact that he has to ask the woman who brought about his brother’s death for information. He wants the investigation to go quickly to bring about justice and to return home. As he gets to know Lady Alexandra Huntington, he is shocked to learn she is not who she was made out to be. He finds himself tempted to learn more.
The sexual tension between Collin and Lady Alexandra lights up the pages. The plan to find the blackguard responsible for his brother’s death and her ruination bring them closer together. The past tries to tear them apart as they try to find the responsible party. These characters grab hold of you and don’t let go til you read the very last page.
Victoria Dahl’s debut novel was a sensual delight to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end. She is a wonderful storyteller and found myself surprised at twists I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to read about Lady Alexandra’s brother in A Rake’s Guide to Ruin coming in 2008.
